Nothing Special, Kakunen Musho
The Emperor of China asked Bodhidharma the founder of Ch’an (Zen Buddhism), “What is the first principal of Buddhism?” Bodhidharma replied “Vast emptiness, nothing sacred!” Kakunen musho. The last half of his reply could also be translated “nothing special.”
